Hi, I’m Breda Knightly, a Registered Marriage Celebrant. I have called the beautiful red earth of Alice Springs home for the past 3 years, and also lived here for 3 years previously. Please get in touch if you would like to chat about a ceremony you wish to hold.
It is my privilege to craft ceremonies alongside those I hold space for, to honour life’s milestones such as weddings, funerals, vow renewals, naming ceremonies or big life rites of passage such as menopause — or any moment you wish to commemorate.
With a calm, relaxed, and chilled nature, I’ll make sure your ceremony feels completely yours — personal, meaningful, and stress-free.
Contact me and let’s chat about your ceremony!

Distinguished and Famous people from Inverell

🏅 Scott Sunderland

Road cyclist Scott Sunderland left Inverell in 1984 to pursue racing in Europe. He went on to ride professionally for teams based in several countries before moving into team direction, including work with CSC and Team Sky. In a 2010 interview he reflected on that international career as he returned to Inverell with his family. This is the Sunderland born in 1966, distinct from the younger Australian track cyclist of the same name. His local story begins with a teenager leaving a northern New South Wales town with racing ambitions.

✈️ Arthur Stanley Grant

Arthur Stanley Grant was born at Inverell in 1913 and attended Bukkulla Public School from 1920 to 1927. Accounting was his first career, but wartime service revealed an exceptional navigator. In 1942 he guided the leading aircraft of a large Lancaster formation to its French target precisely on time, earning the Distinguished Service Order. Two years later, after damage disabled his aircraft’s navigation system during a Berlin mission, he brought it back to England without a compass. He later returned to business. His Inverell district beginnings sit behind a career in which finding the way became a matter of extraordinary skill.

🍜 Albert Lee

Albert Lee worked as an assistant to Chinese retailers at Inverell from 1941 to 1943. The appointment formed part of a varied working life that included importing herbs and groceries before he became the proprietor and cook behind Brisbane’s Oriental Café and Pagoda Room. He combined commercial success with quiet support for the Chinese community, including helping others enter business. Inverell’s connection is a documented period of employment, not a branch of the later restaurant. It records the retailer behind the restaurateur, acquiring experience of trade and customers before his name became associated with a much larger dining enterprise.

🏛️ Leon Punch

Leon Punch attended Inverell High School before further schooling and a working life in dairy farming and grazing. Council service led to the New South Wales Parliament, where he became Country Party leader and deputy premier. As public works minister he oversaw the completion and opening of the Sydney Opera House in 1973. He was also a forceful parliamentary opponent, remembered for combative exchanges and an energetic manner. Inverell’s association is education, rather than birthplace or a claim that his later farms stood nearby. The school connection preserves one formative stage in a career that moved between rural enterprise and State politics.
